The Stone Spirit

The Thunderbird is in flight

According to my guides, Thunderbird energy is prevalent in our world right now. The Thunderbird generally is a harbinger of change and the end of a cycle. My guides and the elementals offer an overview of Thunderbird energy, and six ways to help manage it.

A few years ago, I noticed a piece of milky quartz in a field in California and felt prompted to take it home. That was the beginning of my relationship with the consciousness that inhabits that stone: a free-spirited elemental called Mabel.

I once asked Mabel what we should expect from the future. She showed me a landscape through the eyes of a hawk. We glided across a dusty golden plain, and then the hawk focused in on a rocky outcropping and a bird-like petroglyph. I heard "Thunderbird." Later I learned that the Thunderbird is often seen as a harbinger of great change, of the end of a cycle, and of destruction and creation. I filed the vision under interesting things, then promptly forgot about it. Until yesterday, when I asked the guides for the topic of our next post. You guessed it: the Thunderbird. Looks like the future is here, folks.

My guide Ra-Sha, an Arcturian group consciousness, teams up with Mabel the milky quartz to give us an overview of Thunderbird energy at work now, plus six ways to get through it.

Hello Ra-Sha and Mabel. I understand you want to talk about the symbology of the Thunderbird?

Yes, the Thunderbird is a symbol for your times. Thunderbird energy brings change, sometimes calamitous change. There are many Native American myths and legends about the Thunderbird, and this archetype is prevalent in your world right now. For you are undergoing a big change. At times, the events needed to bring about that change will seem like a thunderclap. We want you to be prepared for the storms, but we also want you to know how to work with this energy so that you can fly above the clouds.

What can you tell us about the changes to come?

Thunderbird is showing you the end of a cycle. Thunderbird is showing you that you are moving out of one age and into a new one. We've talked about what the energy of 2023 supports: initial steps toward working with and valuing others, allowing for differences, and holding compassion in your heart for those you don't agree with or who may be making choices that you would not make yourself. So, moving in this direction from where you've been—well, just know that there may be a period of thunder and lightning. But remember that rain brings new growth and, yes, flowers.

Are there specific changes that you want us to prepare for?

We expect that you may see musical chairs in your Congress, and some changes in prominent government personnel. We expect that the Ukraine conflict will be resolved, but not without some tumult and heartache in Russia. We also think you may continue to see popular uprisings in the coming years. As Madame de Pizan put it, the divine feminine has arisen and will not be put back in her box.

What should we know about Thunderbird energy?

While we suggest that you prepare for some unsettling events, we don't want to create fear. In fact, we're adamant that you should not feel fear about these events. Indeed, outside of major earth changes, most of these are events that many people would like to see happen. It's just that change can be disquieting. And some events may take place suddenly and without warning.

Know that Thunderbird is not good or bad. It simply describes the energy of bringing conflicting frequencies into harmony. And sometimes that can't happen without a few thunderclouds.

How should we work through Thunderbird energy?

Most importantly, get out into nature. Connect with Gaia one-on-one. Nature energy will begin to balance your own energy and bring it into harmony with the rest of Gaia's creation. This is a time when you may see a natural object that you wish to pick up—a stone, a feather, or an oddly shaped leaf or stick. Follow that urge. Pick it up and take it with you. Use it to reconnect with Gaia when you need to feel more at peace.

Which crystals can help us manage Thunderbird energy?
  • A common garden stone can help to ground you. Keep it in your pocket or place it on your root chakra as you nap or meditate.

  • Amethyst is a wonderful choice for stress. Wear it, keep it on your desk, or place it over your crown chakra as you nap or, better yet, meditate.

  • Labradorite can connect you to your higher self and so rise above the fray. Wear it, or place it on your sacral chakra as you meditate.

  • Sunstone can help lift your mood. Hold a piece in your non-dominant hand, sit quietly, and focus on your breathing.

  • Finally, any of the water stones—Caribbean calcite, larimar, aquamarine—can help you to take discordant energies in stride. Wear it, meditate with it in your non-dominant hand or on your throat chakra, or put a piece under your pillow.

What else we should know about Thunderbird?

For those of you who are connected to the dragons, know that your dragon guides are helping to usher in these new energies. (If you wish for a dragon guide, consider a course of meditation and ask to be introduced to a guide that you can work with.)

The Thunderbird is an acknowledgement that change generally isn't easy. But we tell you that you are moving forward into something good. This year you may see the first manifestations of that something good in your world.

Be at peace. Be in love. Be in gratitude. For your star family and your Earth family are one, just as we Arcturians are working with Mabel, of the humble milky quartz, to bring you this message of hope and grounding. Namaste.
