What is the purpose of grief?
Oh, child, to feel is the hallmark of your world. Love and anger and resentment and grief and the whole beautiful bouquet of emotions are a gift.
It doesn’t feel like a gift. Why do we have to have emotions at all?
Emotions are a navigational tool. They are the language that the higher self uses to help you navigate the wilderness of free will. The idea is to go toward what gives you joy, and you will be on your path.
Emotions also are part of the programming system that helps you manifest in the physical. Emotions add fuel to your thoughts so you can manifest more easily.
But grief? I’m lost. Why do I have to feel this way?
We don’t think there is an answer that would satisfy you in this moment. The emotional package allows you to experience the physical more fully. And, yes, grief at the loss of one you love is part of the package.
What you might consider is a broader view. We are aware that you want your beloved with you in the physical. It may help you to know that your beloved will always exist. And in fact, the nonphysical life is richer and more beautiful than you, with your current human limitations, can imagine.
Would it help to know that, with your connection to spirit, you can sense your beloved? We can tell you that those you love on this side of the veil are never far from you.
Is there anything you would like us to know?
You have done a service to your beloved, just as your beloved has done a service for you. You have allowed him to understand the physical in a safe and loving environment. To see and feel what you feel is his goal in this life. So feel it all—the love, the tenderness, the joy, and, yes, the grief—and know that it is helping another soul to grow.
He will never leave you. You have developed bonds that can never be broken. Indeed, his intention is to assist you both from this side of the veil. You will be able to connect with him here, in this space, if you wish it.
